Lạc Long Quân & Âu Cơ – The Origins of Vietnam Art Print by Bao Quyen
This artwork is an original illustration by Bao Quyen, printed on high-quality 300g textured paper for a premium, gallery-style finish with rich colour and fine detail.
Inspired by one of Vietnam’s most important founding legends, this illustration tells the story of Lạc Long Quân, the mighty Dragon King of the Sea, and Âu Cơ, a fairy princess from the mountains. United by love, they gave birth to a golden sac containing one hundred eggs, which hatched into one hundred children—the ancestors of the Vietnamese people, known as the Bách Việt.
Recognizing that their true homes lay in different realms, Lạc Long Quân and Âu Cơ chose to part peacefully. Fifty children followed their father to the coastal regions, while the other fifty followed their mother to the mountains. Before separating, they vowed mutual support and harmony, ensuring unity among their descendants.
This legend symbolizes the origins of the Vietnamese people, the balance between sea and land, and the enduring unity of different regions and cultures.
Perfect as cultural wall art, an educational piece, or a meaningful gift, this print transforms mythology into contemporary visual storytelling.
